I keep seing names on my list that start w/ [c=#####] and other funny formats, I was wondering if there was a way ignore these characters on the contact list.

It will be better to find someone willing to implement a messenger plus! compatibility plug-in for adium.

That looks like a coloured name. MSN (i think) colours names in the format of $68414 so i don't think Kypt is using MSN and therefore MSN plus would be useless for him :) (Feel free to prove me wrong!)

Yes MSN+ does do colours (and so does Mercury Messenger) (and i would of course like support for this but we're getting off topic! :)) but not in the format of the original poster.

The original question was can Adium ignore these characters? AFAIK no it can't, though I'm not sure how hard it would be to write a plugin for it.

Ah damn. just saw the topic of this thread! So i probably am wrong! [c####] still looks like colour formatting though i thought it was a $ not a "c".

Sorry for confusion, here is one of the names in my list:

Code: Select all

[c=#000000]·#·$[c=4]????[/c]David[c=4]????[/c] ·0[/c]
Now, the square chars is just stupid for him to use, I know, but the rest apparently is parsed somehow in the list to give him bold or i unno what w/ the original live messenger (or plus i unno) but having 4 guys w/ very similar things is just annoying cuz the beggining (what i can see) is the same. I could just give 'em a nickname, but I was wondering if it was planned to just either support (bad idea, since it would kill the unified look of the thing) or ignore these code options? Thanks

My solution for the problem was to just give them an alias. Though it would be appreciated if Adium could ignore or obey these style codes.

Yah, thats what I'm doing right now but would love to see it implemented and allow for the ignore option of these chars.
