So if I just stay away from the log viewer during this *downgrade* I will be fine?

I had the same concern as John Don's and decided to quit Adium and back up my logs, just in case. (I learned my lesson from the scrambled logs I have leftover from one of the earlier betas.

)
As I understand it, Evan, you are saying that any new logs created by 0.89.1 now will still be readable when I go back to 1.0, right? That would be a good thing.
Speaking of logs, I have noticed that 1.0 seems to create logs for people I haven't spoken to that day - even if I just open a chat window and close it again right away. I don't remember previous versions doing that. But that is probably a discussion for another thread...

cbarrett has that fixed in his local tree, iirc. It'll be going in with the new message history code.

We'll I've been able to stay connected for over 3 hours today without a single problem, that's with over 1,000 people on my one account.

Precisely, and logs which 0.89.1
can't read won't be changed by 0.89.1, they'll just sit there awaiting your return to 1.0

Thanks for the info, Catfish_Man.

Lucky you.

We'll it's not working now. I'm gonna stop talking, as soon as I do I end up signing off.

Sounds good to me! I'll make the downgrade after I get off work tonight, and post my results here when I do.

I didn't exactly
downgrade, mind you. I just launched Adium from the desktop, cause I was afraid of screwing up things in the 1.0b, after reading some posts here about how peoples's logs and stuff were messed up when they upgraded and went back.

But I guess it's moot, as all the data goes in the same files.

Now my .Mac account (score of 1214) works, but my aim account (21980) does not.

I tried taking a number of contacts off my buddy list but that didn't seem to help. Is there anything that i can do to get it working in the 1.0 betas? Version .89.1 isn't working for me, none of my AIM accounts seem to show up and I'd prefer not to screw up my logs.
Is there any sort of hack or dev build that I could try just to alleviate this temporarily, until an official fix is released?

Gah, iChat is killing me! Any ETA on a fix?
(0.89.1 doesn't work for me either. AIM fight score of 7K or so, IIRC.)

That's the million-dollar question.
MacMom wrote:But I guess it's moot, as all the data goes in the same files.

Yup, moot I'd imagine, hehe.

You think iChat is bad, try going back to the official AIM client. Horrible I tell you! Makes me wonder how I ever put up with it back in the day!

ITA.
That's why I am using 0.89.1 in the interim.

Back to .89.1...I'm going to miss having my contact list slide off-screen when I'm not using it

Reverting back to 0.89.1 seems to have fixed the problem for me. Now I just hope everything is the way I left it when I go back to 1.0,

Since it's still not working (for me at least, probably more people) I was just curious as to what the devs plan to do about it. I heard it was Joscar related. Would that mean you'd have to abandon that? Or maybe AOL will just let it work. Anyway I was just wondering.

It's my understanding that it's only Joscar-related in the sense that Joscar does something related to rate-limiting differently than libgaim, which results in the disconnects. It's not really AOL "forbidding" Joscar (if I understand correctly, AOL doesn't allow any unsanctioned clients).
