Idea :: Time online / Comeback messages

Post by dfunct »

Hi there

First off I'd like to say that I really love this app, so far to me its been stable and actually kinda fun to use :)

I've just got a couple of suggestions to make on making it even better

1) Having a feature in the info page that will tell you when was the last time a contact was online/ how long they've been online for

2) Comeback messages - I find these really handy when for instance I need to catch someone online but at the same time I need to be doing something else

Thanks for reading this and thanks for making such a great IM client!

1) will be in the next version
2) already exists (get info on contact, add alert)
Try my software!

#define QUESTION ((2b) || (!2b))
Have you hugged a programmer today?

2) is also actually improved in 0.8, allowing you to set an alert for the next time a contact is "seen" (i.e. not only when YOU are already online and he signs on, but also if HE is already online and then you sign on).

I've just had a look at the comeback messages and it seems like its a bit long winded ... what about putting an add event on the right click menu?

You can always try to message a person while they're offline

You'll get a sheet with some options, click on "Send Later"

I know that I'm dragging this thread up from the dead but I was really hoping that the first point I made in this thread "Having a feature in the info page that will tell you when was the last time a contact was online/ how long they've been online for" would be in this release as I found it really handy on gaim

Thanks for your time

Yes it is but as far as I can see thats only for AIM ... Plus I would like to see the last time someone was online ... I think all the white space in the "info tab -> Status" would led itself well to this :)

I've been looking for that option!

It's great that Adium has it, but it's deeply hidden.

Would it be possible to make shortcut for it in contact's context menu? Something like:

[X] Alert when contact comes on-line

and this option would go to "Get Info -> Events -> Add 'contact is seen'", with 'delete' checked.
