Im posting here cause this is where Wes Underwood told me to.

We have and xmas duck, thanksgiving duck all sorts of ducks - winter - summer. but . .

We need an easter duck, maybe with ears and such, a basket perhaps? i know this is a weird request, but if i knew how to do this on my own i wouldnt ask if anyone were working on one.

Also a saint patties duck would rock . . for us irish Adium users. maybe something that would double as st patties day and just Irish in general.

You guys all do an awsome job thanks for the help.

i like the easter idea. but i cant help but say what has just been said. I was gonna throw some money at this project anyways. Someone makes and Irish duck that i can use for st patties day, and just in general. something that wont look weird if used year round (not too holiday specifc)

if thats the case ill just throw more money at adium and ill get you any proof you want.

Hehe, don't worry about proof. I was kind of kidding. I'll get KrGAce his duck and than than get back to my normal programming. I encourage you all to donate, but the last thing I need is a bunch of icons HAVE to finish because people "payed" for them. This is supposed to be fun.

I do appreciate your work too, the cash thing was just a "little" incentive, as I was sure you probably get tons of requests. Thanks again,

thats fine, im not trying 2 buy icons, im just trying 2 show support for this program and be an active member of the adium community. so i will be donating anyhow. if you get to my irish duck all the better.

Apple uses strict guidelines for their icons. But this is good because all your icons than match. I love adiumy, as you can tell my the number of ducks I have made. But what I rely want is an icon that not only fits the guidelines, but is clever. I want an icon that fits in with icons like these:


Colloquy is a great example of what I'm going for. It looks aqua, and it represents chatting in a new way. This is going to be a long term project, and will not be released until I am completely satisfied with it. What I want to do is brake out of the mold of chat programs being represented by smiles, speech bubbles, and running yellow men. None of these are real things and just don't fit if you get what I'm going at. Most apps don't fit with apples icons. But a few do. Here are a few of my favorite icons.


I have a few idea but I'm not going to tell you all of them so that I can get better ideas out of you. One idea I had to get you started was so have two can connected by a string, you know a "home-made telephone". The problems with this idea are that not everyone knows about making telephones out of cans, and it probably will not translate to an icon very well. But it gives you an idea of what I'm going for. Unfortunately the ideas I have so far suck, so I'm wondering if you can help me out with ideas. I hope all this is clear. Ideas and feedback please.

PS: Back to my old avatar. I think if fits my personality better, and you guys probably are used to associating me with it.
PSS: If anyone as information about apples icon guidelines, sent it to me. More info is always good.

Every now and then, I look down at the little penguin-attired dock duck, holding up a little sign with my chat buddy's name, and I think "Gotta love that Duck".

Years ago I was working at Apple when they built and shipped their first (and last) tape backup unit. It was a silly thing, with a case the size of an external hard drive and a dinky little tape. But they sold like hotcakes. As a co-worker said, "cute sells". Cute sells the current iPod mini too. Cute isn't sufficient on its own but combine it with cool technology that works and cute sells.

We've got so many WoW players where I work. I wonder if I could entice any of the PC users onto Mac OS X with a WoW Adiumy!

Of course, this can get tiresome after a while. I mean, just how many circular icons do I really need to see?

Still, ... one of the things a lot of OS X icons have is a 3-D effect. How about a high-gloss 3D Adiumy?

agree with you wunderwood...i would love a "different" icon...could you not play off the colloquy icon that you like so much already? i like the megaphone idea. perhaps a satellite dish, a talking computer...i dunno, it's starting ideas...i would really love that glossy aqua adiumy that vlbrown is talking about...and drop the away and idle signs...they're kind of ugly and i think most of us agree.

I like the feedback. Inspiration is a great thing.
I can understand the icons getting tiresome, but just talking about one icon. Personally I like the uniformity of it all.
Anyways keep the ideas coming I think I can some up something pretty cool. I'm going to do some research too. This is not only for adium, but I'm also hopping to lean something.
