Rate limiting error when redirecting e-mail in Mail.app...

I've had an easily reproducible problem for a while now when redirecting a bunch of junk mail (for mail server junk filter training purposes) using key commands in Mail.app and was wondering if anyone else has seen this, knows why it happens, or whether I should be adding this to trac.

Here's my setup: Mac OS X 10.4.7 on a MacBook Pro (so Intel, of course) running Adium 0.89.1 (no plug-ins, only contact list and message styles... although there might have been a few scripts installed at one point) with six AIM accounts, one .Mac account, one Yahoo! account, and two GoogleTalk accounts. I also usually have QuickSilver (currently ?49 Borzoi (3784)) and Terminal open at the same time... and Mail.app, of course.

Here's my process in mail:
1) Select a message in the list view.
2) Hit Cmd-Shift-R (i.e. "Redirect")
3) Type in the "To:" e-mail address (junkmail or notjunkmail@domain.tld)
4) Hit Cmd-Shift-D (i.e. "Deliver" or Send)
5) Go to step one until I've gone through 25-500 e-mails.

I do all of this while Mail.app is in the foreground (of course), and Adium is in the background. What happens is after I've gone through 10-15 messages or so, I start getting the rate limit notification in Adium.

I checked Adium's menu items to see if any were mapped to Cmd-Shift-R, Cmd-Shift-F, or Cmd-Shift-D, but none appear to be (I haven't checked the source). Could there be some global command-key shortcuts defined in Adium or its MenuExtra which is causing some information or status to be updated and/or resent resulting in me hitting my rate limit?

Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone want to try to reproduce it?

I should probably report this in trac, but maybe we can narrow down the cause a little more before I report it.

This is a known problem with Adium 0.89.1; it's already been fixed for version 1.0 :)

What's happening is that when you send mail in Mail.app, it's updating part of your Address Book. Adium uses the AB and responds by trying to do all sorts of updates, including sending your Me card's buddy icon as your accounts' icons if you haven't overridden that manually.

The fix in 1.0 is that address book updates are much more specific; instead of responding to "the address book changed!" with "k, update everything", we look at what specifically changed and only update the relevant things in Adium.

Excellent! That's exactly the kind of answer I was looking for and I'm glad to hear that it's a known issue and already has a fix in an upcoming version.
