Separate font settings for different accounts/users? (for QQ

Post by transparent »

I did a search and didn't see anything related to this...

But I'd like to be able to set a different font to be used on a per user basis, or on a per account (e.g. ICQ, MSN, AOL, QQ) basis. It seems that currently we can only set fonts globally?

Is there a way to do this?

What I actually need is a way to set the font to be bigger ONLY when I'm typing and receiving messages in Chinese, because I like the default or smaller font for English, but it's way too small for Chinese characters. Making the font bigger so that Chinese characters are clearer makes English letters ridiculously large.

Maybe what I'm really asking for is a default font setting depending on the language or input method being used? I really don't know the best way to implement this, but it would be really useful (now that QQ is supported in the beta) to be able to set the Chinese font bigger.

Thanks for listening...

Are you sure there isn't a font that does what you need?

Don't know too much about the font system in OS X, but it appears that all the fonts that support Chinese characters (e.g. Kai, Fang Song, LiHei Pro) have characters that are approximately the size of the alphanumeric letters.

So if I make the font large enough to be able to see the Chinese characters clearly, then the English letters get really large too. Is there a workaround I'm not thinking of? That's why I thought it would be good to have a way to set two different fonts to be used in different situations (e.g. only for QQ accounts, or for certain users, like the ones that converse with in QQ)
