More flexibility with alerts?

Post by Suffusion »

Hey, I searched for anything that resembled what I'm asking but couldn't find anything, so here goes...

I was wondering if it's possible to have an option for allowing alerts to occur for conversations in an already open message window if there have been no messages for a certain period of time.

I tend to leave message windows open for people I talk to all the time, and while I don't want audio for every message I send or recieve, it's nice to have it for new messages. Unfortunately, if a window is already open, regardless of how long it's been since the last message, I can't see a way for an alert to be triggered within the current alert framework.

It would be pretty cool if you could set an alert along the lines of:

Event: Sends a message after XX minutes since last message
Action: Play a sound
Sound: whatever

Let me know if this is feasable, or if I'm failing to express what I'm getting at.

Thanks!

I would like this too. I'm running 0.8 svn and growl svn, so I've set up sticky growl notifications for new messages, but if i leave someone's window open, even if the message is essentially "new" it won't recognize it as such. But 2 hours after we last spoke (or overnight, or what have you) it is in fact a new conversation.

I doubt it would be too hard to implement; we just need someone to step up and do it.

So... before this falls through the cracks all together, any chance of its being implemented?
