Postby Nsma » Sat Sep 30, 2006 7:41 am

im using the latest beta and when i try to send any type file through yahoo and i think msn too adium says its being sent with a progress window as soon as i select the file

but without the contact accepting
they dont get the file or even a notification either

and when someone tries to send me a file i dont get any notification

is there a setting i need to choose or is this a known problem?

I'm not familiar with file transfer over either of those protocols (mostly use AIM myself), but I have noticed that the notification tends to take a little while to come up on their side.

I've had pretty good luck with the beta and file transfers, but again, mostly over AIM.

I was going to link that, but I read it and it has no useful information for him. Besides the 1meg limit on yahoo, but that shouldn't be affecting his MSN at all.

File Transfer on Yahoo!M Not Working

Postby JosephDP » Sun Oct 29, 2006 6:15 pm

I've done a search on File Transfer in this forum [which is how I wound up here] and I in addition to other posts, I've read the wiki and

http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic.php?t=9587

I have the same problem, as originally stated.

I'm using Adium 0.89.1 on MacOSX 10.4.8. When trying to transfer a file to a contact using Y!M on WindowsXPsp2, I get a separate dialog box and a notice in the message window that a file transfer is occurring, then has succeeded. The contact gets nothing, neither alert requesting acceptance of the file, nor the file.

The last file that I tried to send was a PDF, 140KB in size.

The reverse is also true. That is, when a contact on Y!M on Windows attempts to send a file to me, I get nothing, neither alert nor file.

My preferences, under File Transfers, are set to:

Receiving Files: [nothing checked]

Save Files to: [users/shared/]Source
Open "Safe" files... is not checked

Progress: [checked] Show the File Transfers window automatically
[not checked] Clear completed transfers automatically

[Update:] Message Style is Smooth Operator with Normal Variant, though File Transfer in either direction hasn't worked with other styles.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can give me.
