i tried to make an emoticon back but i searched 7 pages back on this forum and the wiki and couldnt find a guide on how to do so
so i just edited an already made pack

i edited the plist and added all my emoticons
everything looks okay and when i install the pack it goes into the adium emoticons folder but when i open adium preferences its not in the list

is there a guide i can read or does anyone have any suggestions as to what im doing wrong?

thanks

Umm the only thing i can think of is you named it the same as a set you already have.
What you have been doing is probably the best way to learn, just by looking at other packs and see how they've dont it.

if you want to work on this, I have little experiance but am willing to help out. Hit me up on any of the networks, links below this post, or e-mail me the emoticon pack at luxurychair [at] gmail [dot] com

I'll see if I can help out, I've edited other adiumxtras before, but usually have emoticons off, personally.

edit: Maybe we can shoot some file transfers back and forth, too.

Hmm i can't open it in Property List Editor, but i can in TextEdit. Maybe its not a valid .plist file then.

I had the same problem with a message style... though I used a totally different name (it's name and the names in the .plist file)
then I just put an "A" behind the file name ("MyNewStyleA.AdiumMessageStyle" instead of "MyNewStyle.AdiumMessageStyle") and... IT WORKED ?!?!
I don't understand that (there isn't another style that uses the same name etc. ...) but it works now...

i downloaded plist editor and when i try and open the plist it gives an error

it says theres an error on line 60 an unexpected character <

that character is part of the emoticon
so i put a space between the code and emoticon and still the same problem

it also says theres a malformed data group error on line 1
invalid hex

i dont understand how to fix it
maybe editing in text edit messed it but i dont really wanna redo the whole thing from scrach in plist editor

Good to hear. Would you be able to look and see what the difference is from the original and the one that worked? Just wondering what caused it that's all.
