The problem is I can't receive them. I click on save or save as and it doesn't send to me. It just keeps getting prepared for sending it. sooo I dont know what to do... I'm running Mac OSX 10.4.8 on an iMac G5... ummm i'm running Adium X 0.89.1 and i'm using AIM. Are there any preferences that i should look into? perhaps some sort of firewall something on my comp... i dont know... Anything at all, its really frustrating because i can send files with no problem, and i just know one friend that i can receive files from, no one else. Please help. thank u.

Well, I would reccomend you follow the steps outlined in the documentation, but it appears to be down. ::laughs::

Edit: I lied. http://trac.adiumx.com/wiki/FileTransfer works. Try this first.

If you already have or it doesn't help, AIM file transfer is improved in the next version of adium (availuable in beta form now, if you're comfortable on pre-release software, otherwise wait a while for an official release) due to a change in how Adium connects to AIM.

Thats about the best advice I can give, though, not being a developer myself.

AIM file transfers seem to be buggy and unstable. However, MSN is very reliable. Try initiating Direct IM. That sometimes helps. If not, try iChat.

edit- aak, LuxuryChair beat me to it!

This is getting off topic, but MSN file transfer for me is slow and only works 3/4 of the time. i guess its more reliable than AIM but yeah.

m2e, are you having AIM file transfer problems in the beta?

MSN file transfer is mostly likely going to work:
1) Slowly and reliably with contacts on compatible clients
2) Not at all with contacts on incompatible clients.

I'm no longer sure what the 'incompatible clients' list is since MSN has gone through several protocol revisions and Mac/Windows client upgrades since I last looked at it.

Evands, I had a hell of a time geting AIM transfers to work in .89.1

in beta I have very very few problems, but there is one little thing that bugs me. Whenever recieve a file, it says "FAILED" as the status when it finishes. Never has the file NOT worked correctly, but it says failed. Maybe just a typo? Maybe the failure checking is having problems? i don't know, just saying.

It always works, but says it doesn't.

As for how often it works, its like, 95% of the time the transfer works, the other 5% i just blame on crappy connections of the other guy's client.

edit: the "failed" bug seems to only come from specific users, so it might be less adium and more whatever they're using (so far seems to be trillian users, but I don't know, might be anything other than AIM official)
