I'm having trouble installing soundsets.

So I install them clicking the install button on the website. The soundset is listed under the Sounds folder in adium's application package, but when I try to use it in the Events tab in Preferences it's not even listed under the soundsets. It's listed when I try to add a sound to an alert but I don't want to have to figure out what sound goes with every alert.
Is there any one online who knows how to fid this?

This might be because the sound set itself hasn't defined which sound should go for what event. Have you tried another soundset?

I've tried three others... I'm trying to install the Nintendo DS System Soundset, Hal, and Gaim2. None of them appear in the Soundset drop down menu. but when I want to apply a sound I can choose one from the soundset.

I've got a brand spankin' new Mac Book Pro Core 2 which I'm setting up as I write this.
I've just downloaded Adium X 0.89.1 and would love to get the Lost It sound set working. After (a) clicking the install link and (b) downloading the .zip and installing - Lost It doesn't appear in the Event Sound Set Preferences drop down.
Was able to get the TokyoTrainStation sound set to work, though, immediately via the install link. There's a TokyoTrainStation.txt in the sound set directory with this stuff as contents:
Code: Select all
...
SoundSet:
"Contact Signed On" On.aif
"Contact Signed Off" Off.aif
"Message Received (New)" New.aif
"Message Received" CRcv.aif
"Message Sent" CSnd.aif
...
I don't find a similar txt file in the Lost It directory, rather a .plist file with this content:
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>AdiumSetVersion</key>
<integer>1</integer>
<key>Info</key>
<string>Music and sounds by Tom Jenkinson and Kevin Sheilds, chopped by Cokes and Mellow Dave.
Hope you like it.
</string>
<key>Sounds</key>
<dict>
<key>Connected</key>
<string>Connected.mp3</string>
<key>Contact Signed Off</key>
<string>Contact Signed Off.mp3</string>
<key>Contact Signed On</key>
<string>Contact Signed On.mp3</string>
<key>Disconnected</key>
<string>Disconnected.mp3</string>
<key>Message Received</key>
<string>Message Received.mp3</string>
<key>Message Received (New)</key>
<string>Message Received (New).mp3</string>
<key>Message Sent</key>
<string>Message Sent.mp3</string>
</dict>
</dict>
</plist>
Any help would be appreciated.

Sigh. The 0.89.1 to 1.0 disjoint is everywhere.
That's the Adium 1.0 soundset format. It'll only work with the beta (beta.adiumx.com, warning, could be buggy, yadda yadda).

Sorry, it's not clear which "That" you're refering too...Do you mean that the .plist file is for the Adium 1.0 sound set available at beta.adiumx.com?
Trying to get to
http://beta.adiumx.com which is redirecting to
http://trac.adiumx.com/wiki/AdiumBeta which is, for me, unavailable.
So bummed...

but I love Adium.
