off line and on line at the same time

Hello, I know somebody who is with Adium off line for certain contacts and on line for others whereas he is well on line. What is the problem. Thank you very much. And once more sorry for my english

1. They may have been blocked in another client. Adium respects any blocked contacts that other clients (eg. MSN for Mac) may have set up, but has no way to change them (yet).
2. Adium has a problem with authorisation, particularly with MSN. Sign in with the official client and see if you get any "User xxx wants to add you to their buddy list"-type dialogs appear. I believe this is being discussed in a current thread, but I am too lazy to search (shame on me).
