Flash warnings in 2.6 beta

Postby bpmildh » Tue Jul 19, 2011 8:17 pm

I have been using the beta for some days now and I get a lot of warnings from Flash on potentional dangerous actions.
(I get the messages from Flash in Swedish, see screenshot)
I don't get theese in other applications so I guess it has to do with Vienna any other way.

As of the url and other factors I draw the conclusion it's about videos or preview images from Vimeo and YouTube in feeds.

Othervise this beta is great so far, love the ability to directly load webpage on individual feeds!
The swedish translation have some bad flaws but I might catch up on that if development continues...

Vienna 2.6.0.2600
Flash 10.3.181.34
OSX 10.6.8

I can add that Flash don´t seem to identify the application (Vienna?) doing the possibly insecure action (the blank row in the message).
I tried to whitelist the domains in question but that don't help.
Also, this occurs only in rss feed items, never in full webpage view.

Can you give me an example of a feed this happens with?

It's not only 2.6 beta, the same thing happens to me in 2.5.1.2502, so i guess it has to do with the flashplayer version one's using... (10.3.181.34 in my case)

I had the same issue. Adding "/Applications" to my trusted locations in Flash's Global Security Settings ( http://www.macromedia.com/support/docum ... ger04.html ) fixed it for me. I tried adding "/Applications/Vienna" but that didn't work, for some reason only the whole Applications folder worked.

thanks @neop

Had the same problem with Vienna 2.5.1.2502 and Flash 10,3,181,26. I put Vienna into /Applications/Vienna/Vienna.app and just added the Vienna folder to Flash Global Security. Solved the problem for me (after I restarted Vienna).

Thanks! The "/Applications" solution solved my problem, but it took some time to find the right place to add the setting as Adobe moved the preferences to a system prefpane and hide the relevant section beneath scrolling . Strange thing is that not all flash/youtube/vimeo-content produce the same behavoiour, only certain feeds, here is one of them:
http://feeds.boingboing.net/boingboing/iBag (video content).

Adding "/Applications" does not solve the problem for Vienna 3.0b. It makes this app useless, if Flash can't be accessed via a feed. Any attempt to close the pop-up alert windows eventually causes the app to hang and inoperable.

I've been receiving these flash warnings for a few weeks now, in the official release, not beta.

I thought one of my feeds was displaying embedded content with malware, but I'm not sure of this now.
