upgrade destroyed all subscriptions

I've been using Vienna for about a month or so now with no problems, and it's been great. Until about fifteen minutes ago, when I got an alert about an upgrade. I figured, hey, why not, and when Vienna returned... it'd not only lost every single one of my 60+ subscriptions, it also lost the entire left sidebar. No "unread mail" box, no "today's mail" box, no trash, no... nothing. At all. Strangely, it did retain all the windows I'd had open behind the main reading window, but everything else is gone. If I remove messages.db, I get the default setup (and the left sidebar is back), but it's with a bunch of subscriptions I don't want and none of the sixty I went through all that trouble to add. Not to mention all the articles I'd marked for later reading, now gone. If I put messages.db back, then I'm back to blank sidebar and no subscriptions.
What's strange is that there's a folder call "source" in the application support/vienna/ folder, and it contains xml for all my subscriptions plus five or six default subscriptions. Is there any way to get Vienna to compile its subscription list from those xml entries? because clearly message.db isn't doing jack. Also, if I get it working again, I'll consider it lesson learned to never, ever accept an upgrade request from Vienna again, or at least not without exporting and backing up severely, because this crap is majorly annoying.
Any ideas for getting the xml files to become subscriptions again?
