Old reader sync: unread count, but no visible items

I set up theoldreader.com so that I can finally sync unread items between iOS and the OS X desktop vienna rss reader.

It works, but I occasionally run into weird behavior. Some feeds do still show an unread count, but when I select that feed, I do not see any item at all.

I sometimes quickly delete items in vienna if I couldn't find the time to read them. maybe those do not get synced correctly? If I then visit theoldreader.com I see those unread items.

Imo def a bug, but not sure which software is to blame and what is going wrong. Maybe a dev can look into this?

Thanks for this awesome software, I really enjoy it otherwise!

Thanks for reporting this. It seems similar to what an InoReader user reported : <http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=26456>

Personnally, I never delete articles, so I could not spot this bug…

Thanks for the pointer.
When the number of items grows a lot you may loose track of what is actually happening. So I took a smaller ensemble to test the syncing and came to the following conclusion: the syncing only takes place with READ articles. If you DELETE an article in Vienna WITHOUT marking it as READ, then Inoreader continues to show it as UNREAD. Am I perhaps rediscovering the wheel?
<- is what another user wrote.

This seems to be the case and I do this occasionally if I have to little time to really read all articles. Seems I have to tap through them once first before deleting so the syncing is taking place correctly.

I know you are a busy man, but a fix would be most welcome.

Have a nice day.
