Need help subscribing to European court of human rights rss

Postby Martin83 » Fri Oct 23, 2015 11:42 am

Hello,

I would like to ask for your advice on subscribing to RSS feeds of European court of human rights (ECHR). ECHR has several RSS feeds, but unfortunately, none of the work in Vienna. The RSS feeds are accesible on this website:http://www.echr.coe.int/Pages/home.aspx?p=ECHRRSSfeeds&c= When I try to add any of the RSS feeds to Vienna, they do get added to my feeds, but any request for the news from these feeds come up with an error. I would be very greatful for any help.

Thank you, Martin

I’ll have to investigate more, but Vienna has difficulties handling the parentheses used in the URLs.

A temporary workaround :
- open in Firefox the page containing the links http://www.echr.coe.int/Pages/home.aspx ... SSfeeds&c=
- There, click on the icon corresponding to the feed you need
- A new tab should open in Firefox.
- You don’t need to subscribe in Firefox as suggested. Just copy to the clipboard the URL displayed by Firefox
- Come back to Vienna. Choose the menu item for a “New subscription”
- A dialog box already populated with the URL should appear. Just validate.
- The new feed should appear on Vienna’s left panel. It should be named “Internet Portal Search Feed”. Right click on the name, choose “Rename…” in the contextual menu and change the name to your liking.

You can also copy the URLs, and replace in the subscription dialog :
- any left parenthesis “(” with %28
- any right parenthesis “)” with %29

Thank you, this worked. However, when I try to access the feed, I get this security error and the link will not load:

This is the feed url: http://hudoc.echr.coe.int/app/transform ... bc4163871b

It should be noted the feed rule has been added to Vienna subcriptions according to your advice :)

And thsi the url which is displayed in the browser: http://hudoc.echr.coe.int/eng%23%7B%22i ... 0%22%5D%7D

Thanks for reporting this.
These URLs are particularly tricky, using characters which are rarely used. These characters may be legal but only in some reserved contexts, so many apps have difficulties handling them, and developers tend to avoid them.

I found a solution, and it will be applied in the next build.
