My bug appears to be identical to the one described in this post: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=26921
I am creating a new thread because that one is over 3 years old and did not appear to result in resolution
My Mac is Version 10.13.6 (17G65) and my Vienna is Version 3.5.5 :817110fe: (7130) (I've just redownloaded it in an unsuccessful attempt to fix this problem). The problem stems back to December 30, but I'm not sure what version of Vienna I was using at the time.
On December 30, I was deleting a few subscriptions (5 in total) from Vienna. Upon deletion, I noticed that when I navigate to my Unread Articles or All Articles folders, unread articles from those subscriptions were still present in the articles list. In the article viewing pane, everything appeared as it had before except that the "From" section for each article was now blank. Furthermore, the unread count in parentheses after "Vienna" at the top of the page did not register these articles in the count.
I discovered that if I attempted to delete these articles (or mark them as read) from either folder, the articles list would initially comply. But as soon as I switched away from that folder and then went back (or switched from all to unread or vice versa), these articles would reappear as unread articles. They are essentially ghost articles haunting my Vienna (to steal the poetic language from the OP in the linked thread above)
I tried deleting all my subscriptions, deleting Vienna, and redownloading a fresh Vienna. However, the ghost articles simply reappeared in the new Vienna. I figured there must be some app data stored somewhere in my computer that would allow this to happen, but I haven't been able to find anything in my library. I don't see anything in my preferences/settings that would clearly be relevant for this issue, but I'm happy to describe those if needed.

This, or something very similar, has started happening to me today. There are a few symptoms:
- Normally I would clear new items using command-K, this doesn't always work any more.
- Nothing at all shows under the "Unread Articles" option when there are numerous articles marked as new in each folder.
