Playing flash movies

I have a number of old movie files that used to work fine but now give a black screen when playing in Quicktime Player 7.5. I presume this is due to the loss of Flash support in Quicktime. The movies are listed as .mov. If you open it in Quicktime Player the Format is listed as Flash. They do not open in Flash Player. Should Perian provide the ability to play these? If not, is there any way to play them or convert them to a useable format?

[edit] I just found the problem. In System prefs, if you have Application Enhancer installed, that for some reason messes w/QT. I went to the Panel for AE and clicked Modules, Enhanced Applications, selected QT and clicked Add to Exclude List. This ended the issue for me.
I am having the same issue but it existed with 1.1.1 perian as well. I updated to 1.1.3 in hopes of fixing this issue but no joy.
QT 7.5.5 and 10.4.11 and 1.1.3 Perian

What APE modules do you have installed?

audiohijack i think, and under enhanced apps there's everything from archive assistant to teleport, safari and mail. i've also had to disable Perian as some .avi's won't play. i'll turn it back on if i need the subtitle function.

All your apps will be under enhanced apps. Did excluding QT from audiohijack fix the video?
(you should post avis that don't work too)

Excluding QT from enhanced apps, under modules, worked for me. The avi that was problematic didn't have any specific info (command-i) to tell me what encoding or whatever had made them so.
update- OK on my other machine I just now opened an avi file that has an .srt file included in the same folder. The subs didn't work so I checked and Perian was turned off, (NO application enhancer on this machine) so I turned Perian back on and sure enough, the file will not open or play. It is a divx 6.
On my other machine WITH application enhancer, the same movie will open w/Perian OFF and in the info window it says it is a Generic MPEG-4! WTHeck?
OK on that machine w/AE, I turned on the Console and then tried to open the avi again w/Perian on and this is what is reports.....
2008-12-25 01:20:53.674 QuickTime Player[1082] *** -[NSConcreteData subdataWithRange:]: range {1767424, 4096} exceeds data length 1768514
On my G5 with NO AE, the Console reports....2008-12-25 01:24:52.713 QuickTime Player[369] *** -[NSConcreteData subdataWithRange:]: range {1767424, 4096} exceeds data length 1768514
This is beyond my knowledge but will hopefully help in diagnosing what is going on. I have Perian 1.1.3, but there's no way I can use it because no videos will play with it installed on either of my machines.

This avi has an idx/sub files associated with it, doesn't it? The subfile set is broken, please post it so we can test further.
In the mean time, in the preferences, turn off loading external subs and see if that helps.
