hi guys need help urgently,i had Perian 1.1.2 installed previously,it worked fine with Quicktime Pro 7.5.5 , Divx Pro 2.2 , RealPlayer 11.0.0 and VLC Player, but after installing Perian 1.1.3 everything still played fine eg. Quicktime Movie Trailers in Stereo and Divx movies in MP3,I also have movies that was bought and downloaded from the internet in .AVI with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound which now being played back in Quicktime,Divx and RealPlayer with noisy and scratchy sound, however the same .AVI movies plays fine with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound using the VLC PLAYER,so the problem lies within Quicktime,Divx player and RealPlayer,VLC Player even play MKV files with DTS 5.1 sound perfect. I'm using a Mac Mini 1.83 GHZ with Leopard 10.5.5

Trash Divx. In addition, trash any AC3 components you have aside from the one Perian installs (AC3MovieImport and A52Codec). The others are buggy, and likely responsible for your troubles.

Considering how lousy your description of the sound is, I had to guess at what you are actually hearing. "noisy and scratchy" isn't a very good description at all.
You followed some moron's incorrect instructions for turning on AC3 passthrough, didn't you?

now look everything was playing fine with Perian version 1.1.2,iTunes,Quicktime,Divx Player,RealPlayer,VLC Player, and the .AVI and .MKV FILES I bought and downloaded from ZML.COM,check this link,
http://www.zml.com/movie/iron-man-198711.htm, all came with original DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, nothing needed to be decoded or encoded, they played fine with DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 with Quicktime,Divx player and RealPlayer, but like i said just after installing Perian 1.1.3 only those files sound is being played back with a load and screechy sound, what is strange the VLC player was not effected at all,if someone knows what the problem could be please advise

hi guys no need to stress anymore, everything works fine like before,i guess after installing Perian 1.1.3 it through out the Audio Midi Settings i had changed previously in order to play .AVI files with Dolby 5.1,but after following this link,
http://geekwithfamily.com/2007/07/05/ho ... me-player/[/color], all is well again,if you wanna make a test to see if Quicktime Pro can play .AVI movie files with 5.1 simply open zml.com,select a movie, click on either DVD or High Def,click on Technical Info and from there you can download for free 1-2 min.clips of the movie you want to buy with full 5.1 sound

I said

And you added this:

That's still a lousy description. I can think of a whole host of sounds which fit your descriptions, which can have any one of numerous causes.
I also asked if you attempted to follow someone's instructions for turning on AC3 passthrough. You failed to answer.
Lastly, there is no way I'm going to purchase a movie to diagnose
your problem, and certainly not the bad movie you suggested.
No one is going to help you unless you provide some sort of useful information.

You should be aware, his instructions are
wrong.
P.S. If you had answered my question about passthrough the first time, you would have had your answer sooner.
