hey, I've had Lion for a few months and haven't been able to play anything in QuickTime X using Perian ever since. I was waiting for some sort of an update, but that doesn't seem very likely at this point.
everything plays absolutely fine in QuickTime 7, but that's not ideal. I've tried using the prefpane to remove, reboot, then reinstall, but no success. I've even tried reinstalling the prefpane as well, in case it made a difference. is there any chance on QuickTime X support being re-added?
EDIT: to be more specific, when opening a file in QuickTime X (MKV), it displays the "Loading Movie..." screen for about 10 seconds, and then tells me that I need QuickTime 7 to open the file. without Perian, it immediately throws a 'cannot be played' error.

Re: QuickTime X in Lion
Sorry for the somewhat late response (and many apologies for my naivete), but I'm unable to actually find the corresponding threads associated with this Quicktime issue. Please forgive me. While I'm not a newbie to film making and video production, I'm a complete n00b when it comes to program configuration and video playback. Ironically enough, I very rarely use QT. Most of the time I open my files in Windows Media Player or VLC. Can anyone on here point me to the appropriate thread? It would be extremely appreciated! =Dgbooker wrote:http://bugreport.apple.comGolemdX wrote:any chance on QuickTime X support being re-added?

Re: QuickTime X in Lion
I'm having this same issue in the non-pro version. I know mkv's used to work in QTX the last time I tried to use them (likely in snow leopard) but now it insists that I download QT7 and will only run the video in QT7. I'd love to find out if anyone knows a solution to this because QT7 is not such a great app.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Solution: Bug Apple about it until they fix it.
