Sounds like an issue with the phone itself, or the router it's behind; it's nothing to do with Prowl. Try setting your router to use openDNS — http://www.opendns.com/ — since that seems to help a few people.

Not sure. If it works while it's unlocked (i.e., push notifications come through fine) it's not a Prowl issue. Sorry, I don't know.

yeah, Open DNS made it work just fine at home. Thanks so much for the fast help. (on a weekend!!)

I guess, it's a carrier issue, then. I'll play around a little to figure out, whats the problem. (maybe I need to do something with the carrier settings)

i just checked my device list and can see 1 attached device. tried sending a notifcation via the prowl site and did not get any push notifcation. it did show up in the actual app though.

tried rebooting into safe mode, opened prowl up, and rebooted back to normal mode. prowl site still shows 1 attached device. i try to send another notification via prowl site and this time i got the push.

i don't know what anyone else's jb experience is like. once again i don't seem to have any issues with other push-enabled apps like im+

Oddly enough- launching my JB device into safe mode, and then it registered on prowl website, then I sent a test notification (push is working) and rebooted the device. I followed up (after back to normal mode) with another add notification from the prowl website (prowl fixed) and it arrived safely.

Mine just doesn't seem to make sense.

When I was on 3.0, it was working perfectly, jailbroken.

I updated to 3.1 and jailbroke (didn't even restore from backup), and now it doesn't work at all, not even respringing in safe mode and opening the app. No Prowl push at all (Beejive's push does work perfectly, though).

I don't have any alternate SMS apps either, and I have as little extensions as possible.

My device is also activated with iTunes and I'm not unlocked.

The only hack I have is the tethering hack, and it hadn't been working before I applied it.

My phone has never been un-registered from the website, either...

I got this when not in safe mode. Maybe it will help.

Hi,

yesterday i bought Prowl and it workes perfectly on my jailbroken iPhone (3Gs iOS4.0).
I pushed messages via the webinterface and the api and all worked fine.

Today i noticed that it stopped showing a popup for the notification.
When i push a notification, the Prowl App Icon gets a badge, but theres no popup going up.

I also tried it in "Safe Mode" but still no popup.

Regards

Sounds like you're in quiet hours; and this is unrelated to being jailbroken.

Another question:
Should i see my registered devices in the settings page of prowlapp.com?

What are your quiet hours settings set to? What's your prowl username?

If the badge is updating, push notifications are working.

My prowl username is phil1234 :)

I checked the quiet hours settings and changed them to a time I'm not in.
And it worked! Thank you!:D

But why is quiet hours activated although it's not in the settings?

If you reloaded the Prowl application but didn't modify any settings, it doesn't upload to the server. In the next release, whenever you load the settings, it'll upload to specifically avoid this problem.

Nice to know!

BTW Is it possible to cache at least a few of the notifications in the app?
So they don't have to be reloaded everytime you start the app.

That's the plan for a future release. Not sure which, but my plan is to put it into the next one.

I'm wondering if this has been including in a release yet? I'm trying to get my Mobile Voip and digital phone service working through my mobile. Then I'll have access to my Business Telephone Service from anywhere.

Thanks in advance,

-Jim
