I vote for GV Mobile. Like, thirty times. It should, if possible, launch to the SMS pane, or the Voicemail pane, depending on what type of notification is received.
But I was wondering if there was any technical reason why you could not allow the user to select any application to run, instead of having to get the application added to
the launchable application list. (This could be in addition to the launchable application list).
There's no actual way to launch an application specifically, nor to get a list of applications. The way Prowl is doing it is by executing a special-crafted urlscheme:// they register for, which is the same as launching them.

Would it be possible to have a user-configurable standard http URL redirect for MobileSafari?
Example: a new email notification is pushed by 'Gmail Notifr' to iPhone, and upon opening the alert Prowl would launch into Safari via http://www.gmail.com/ (and therefore into the inbox if already logged in)
This would be useful for those who do not use Mail for gmail or for those who do not have access to POP/IMAP when on corporate networks (which is my case, making Mail unuseable)
Little pity you can't open mail on the root (selection of account)
I prefer cancel the redirection for the mail because the mail that I push to growl is not my default address so I have to do too many tap on the screen for arrive on the gmail account
I see that GV Mobile is in your list of not having a URL Scheme but is adding one. Does adding a URL scheme require an update to the app? Because GV Mobile was pulled for the App Store by Apple I'd have to jailbreak to download an update for that app, and isn't there problems with Prowl and jailbroken phones?

Prowl works just fine with jailbroken phones if you activate it legally via iTunes. The problem is only with hacktivated ones. If you can use prowl on your phone, you can use it on your jailbroken phone. Having said that, I prefer not jailbreaking if possible and using the web interface for gv. Zac will be looking into adding custom url schemes on 1.2, if it is possible, and he does, you can use the web interface instead of the app.
