Ssl error when connecting to server

Postby charlesso » Sat Sep 03, 2011 10:33 am

I think about 3-4 weeks ago I suddenly stopped getting notifications on my iPhone.

Didn't bother to check what happens until now.

Downloaded client v1.3, n now I'm getting "an ssl error has occurred and a secured connection to the server cannot be made"

What's going on? How do I get it running again?

Can you check the date and time on your device? Sounds like it might be set some time far in the past or far in the future, which will break SSL for both the Prowl app and the push service.

I was using 3G network previously.

Once I connect to WIFI network, I can connect to the server. Prowl badge shows I have 87...6 notifications.

Got into the app, it says "Loading notifications...". 5 seconds later, it says "Error updating. The network connection was lost"

I've checked the date and time. It is accurate, up to the minute.

Now what? Please help!

Note that when you don't open Prowl after receiving some number of notifications (as defined by Apple, I have no idea what the number is), you stop receiving push notifications. It's something in their system to prevent you from being annoyed by apps you never use, I think. Not sure.

Sounds like you have so many notifications (87…6 means you have over 8700 notifications) that the internet connection you're using is failing it. Your best bet is to clear them: hit "clear all" and acknowledge it. The next refresh won't find any so it'll be rather instantaneous.
