Hello,
I'm wondering why there isnt an double clickable installer for growlnotify. As a user I know how to run the terminal, and install it. However, I know that not all the users of my application would know how to do this. Wouldnt it be easier to make it to be installed from the finder?

Basically it's how it is because we don't want to distribute it in that way in the end, so no resources are being put towards creating and maintaining a installer.
The general stance however has been that if someone wants growlnotify, then they should be technical enough to be able to at least use the hodge-podge shell script.

If you feel the experience for your users is sub-par you can and should work around this by including growlnotify in your app and copying it out to where you'd like using the shell script or a custom process and invoking as necessary (after a proper check for Growl and growlnotify on the system, and not replacing a newer version with your bundled version.) Self-healing dependencies in an app are the best kind to keep, though sometimes the hardest to maintain.

No, that's not what we recommend.
growlnotify is not there for developers to use, we have plenty of other apis to use. It's not meant to be used in this manner.
