"Show Currently Playing Track" stopped displaying

I had everything worked the way I wanted -- thanks to everyone's help here -- but then I added hotkeys in quicksilver to be able to increase or decrease itunes ratings on the fly. Since implementing and using these hotkeys, my "show track" notification has stopped displaying the ratings at all. it started that it displayed the rating (say at zero stars) then I would increase the ratings, hit the hot key to show the current track info, and the rating would be gone. now the rating doesn't show up at all. all the other info is there and the same, but the ratings aren't.
any ideas?
thanks.

So you're using QuickSilver to do the triggering and sending of data to Growl? Why do you think this is a Growl problem?

i didn't know there was any other way to do it.
i'd be more than happy to do it the right way.

There's not really a right way, but what I do is have GrowlTunes display notifications for me, since it can grab artwork from amazon. GrowlTunes also shows the ratings.

ok. i changed it to have growltunes do my notifications, but now i lost my ctrl-cmd-S show currently playing track info hotkey because i unclicked the quicksilver itunes notification. does that make sense?
here's my deal: i like to be able to pop up the itunes info notification in the middle of a song, but the only way i've figured out to do that is by using QS's itunes notification combined with that QS hotkey combination. so it's like i'm in a catch-22: if i want to see the ratings i need to use growltunes and if i want the hotkey i have to use QS. is there any way around this?
thanks for the help.

ok i got it.
i've got this program called "FastScripts Lite" and i set up that key-combo to an apple script that shows itunes info and it shows the correct info.
It added the program "WBC iTunes Scripts" to the Applications menu in Growl.

Search the forum, I posted the applescript to do this with GrowlTunes.
In fact, showing the current track is the only call to applescript that GrowlTunes has.

Tick, thanks for GrowlTunes. I couldn't find the post you were talking about after digging around the forums and seeing as how this forum thread is the number one relevant hit on Google for "GrowlTunes Current Playing Track"... Here's what I did.
Code: Select all
tell application "GrowlTunes"
show current track
end tell
- Place this applescript in ~/Library/Application Support/Quicksilver/Actions
- Open Quicksilver Trigger Preferences
- Add the Script to run as a Custom Trigger
- Assign a hotkey if you like
