... and problems when growl isn't installed.

Hey folks,

I'm developing an application in applescript and I've run into a bit of a show stopper. Currently I'm using Growl to notify the user when part of a conversion or the batch of conversions has finished and its all working awesomely

BUT when a user WITHOUT Growl uses the application it pops up a "Choose Application..." prompt looking for GrowlHelperApp (even though its not actually been called yet)

I used the suggested block of code to see if growl is running but I'm still running into problems

Has anybody got any ideas/suggestions and has anyone else come across this?

Thanks for taking the time to look

James

I have an excellent, if a little convoluted, solution for this. Send a request for this package, and it will include all of the code that you need.

If you didn't get the script, try again (and put a note in the body where you're coming from). Note that the API is not really documented...

I got it thanks:)

I've been looking though it all and I can seem to find any actual mention of growl anywhere ...

It is probably better to continue this conversation in email, but in short: that is the beauty of the API. All of the user interface is handled in the Dialog_Library, which can use growl (if installed) or will default to a dialog box or logging to the console.

Have a look at PCS_Dialog\Library.scpt for the type of script hints you are looking for.
