Growl in user folder?

I guess there's probably very good technical restrictions, but since I am going to do it anyway, I thought I'd better ask: Why does Growl not allow installation to the user folder on Tiger? 0.76 not only allowed this, but did it by default. With 1.1, I've got to complete the install and manually move the pane after.

Grab the .7.6 prefpane and install it. Then double click the 1.1 prefpane, you'll see the error we were avoiding.

It was either this, or receiving thousands of error reports.

Also, 10.4 pkg doesn't allow you to install in ~, or that'd be an option.

So the issue is installing it, but it will run there without problems?
