Music Video style not working in 1.1.1 with multiple screens

Post by vqv »

Some changes were made to the Music Video style to improve the transition speed and also fix issues with screen origin. However this seems to have broken it (in at least my setup).

The style works properly when set to screen 0 and the speed is improved.

When set to screen 1 the first notification shows properly, but subsequent notifications no longer work. Restarting growl takes it back to the original state.

I have 2 screens. Screen 0 is 1680x1050, screen 1 is 1440x900. The screens are positioned so that their tops are at the same level. Screen 1 is on the right.

So if set to screen 1, all notifications after the first simply don't display?
The duck still burns.

This issue is filed and being tracked with http://trac.growl.info/ticket/727 and will be addressed in 1.1.2.

Still happening

This issue is still present for me in 1.1.2.

Version 1.1.1's changelog shows work was done to repair the issue, but it hasn't worked for me at all since 1.1.

The only difference between myself and the original poster (right down to screen resolutions) is that my second monitor is on the left (not right) of my monitor.

This happens to me too. in addition, the music video style is completely broken if I set one screen "above" the other in the system prefs. The notification will start on one screen, slide up all the way across the other screen, and then slide back down.
Necessary? No. Cool? Maybe. Geeky? Heck ya!

Exact same trouble

I'm experiencing the very same trouble. MusicVideo can be tested once in the pref panel and then never appears again. I have to reboot the Mac to see the MusicVideo once, and then never again. When I go back to the 0.7.6 version, everything works fine. All the other alert style works fine, thought.

Please add my name to the list. The situations are exactly same here : no "second time" for music video notification, have a second monitor, everything is okay otherwise. As far as I set monitor to "0" it's OK too. My mac is running Tiger 10.4.11 - Growl 1.1.3.

New finding : When I set display option to "nano" + "screen 1", the notification appears at an odd place in the main window. Is it related to Music Video bug ?

Just to confirm that the Music Video style problem with multiple monitors is still present in Growl 1.1.4, under OS X 10.5.4, iMac with built-in screen 1920x1200, external Apple Cinema display of 1680x1050. The positioning of the external monitor relative to the main screen doesn't seem to matter - the notification will fire once and only once; once a notification has successfully appeared, you have to stop/restart Growl before another notification will appear.

Thanks!
