Just an idea for Growl and multi-monitor users

Don't get angry about all my stupid ideas. Just say to yourself: "This guy seems to have too much time and wants to bother us with his stupid thoughts..." ;)

I really never thought about it but right now an idea popped out of my mind: Wouldn't it be great, if Growl had an option to show notifications on both screens when having expanded the Desktop. I don't know if it's practicable in any way to set this per application. But I think it would be nice to have such a feature.

I'm often working on several projects at the same time on two screens. When I upload some files I get notified on screen one while working on screen two. So I miss lot's of notifications like upload finished etc. But setting the notifications on screen two instead of one would be no solution since my eyes move from one screen to the other and back again. So there's no primary display in that sense. They both are primary. A friendly coexistence. ;)

Maybe you have thought about it before and it doesn't make sense at all or is way to difficult to implement. But if you haven't thought about it maybe you see the functionality in it, too.

If not - think about it: "This guy just has too much time. He should concentrate on his work not on notifications." ;)

It seems like it would be redundant to me. Sticky notifications would require you to travel to both displays to close them. In addition, your focus would be split because you have a notification animating in on multiple displays, causing you to look to each instinctually.

Indeed, it IS redundant. It is absolutely redundant. I must say, I haven't thought about sticky notifications. But one thing I could think about to avoid clicking away the same notification on two screens is the following: If every notification got it's own ID then the notification had the same ID on screen one and two. So when you click one of them away, the other correspondending one would be closed the same moment.
And yes, I know, this is not quite useful for the masses. I just wanted to be innovative. In the 90s most people couldn't imagine they could live without a floppy drive. ^^
Don't take that idea too serious. Better concentrate on what's useful for the big crowd of Growl-lovers. ;)
