In case anyone is interested, the latest Growl Notifications 1.02 extension for Thunderbird does not work in the brand-new "Shredder" alpha release. (It doesn't function, and crashes the program on exit.)
But its predecessor (Growl New Message Notification 0.3) seems to work just fine.
