Growl Tells Me To Update...But I Already Did

Post by rdkrauss »

Installed Growl 1.1.4 on Mac OS Leopard....

Since installing 1.1.4, I get a Growl notification that there is a new version of Growl available and I should click to update. But the link takes me to 1.1.4, which I have already installed.

Is this a glitch? Is anyone else having this happen?

Thoughts on how to make this stop?

Please attach a screenshot of the About tab of your Growl preferences pane.

Also, please attach a screenshot of the update notification.

Not really sure what is causing the problem.

I have the exact same problem. Now I have two Growl notifications saying a newer version is available.
I wish I could close them without starting a download.

Do you have a Growl.prefPane in the PreferencePanes folder in the Library folder of your Home folder?

Do you have a Growl.prefPane in the PreferencePanes folder in the Library folder at the root level of your startup disk?

You can. If you mouse over the notification window, a circled X appears; that's the close box.

There are preference panes in each Library folder. I try clicking on the X in the notice. When I click on it it starts a download.

Therein lies the problem. Remove the older of the two.

I've had the same problem. Now, I found the first one of these but how do I get to the root level of startup disc to check there? I'm still stuck on v. 1.1.3 (I checked the about tab in Growl Prefs)
For the record, my update notification is exaclty the same as the screen shot someone else attached.

Edited to add:
I managed to get to 1.1.4 by clicking the .mpkg installer. But I am still curious as to how to find the PreferencePanes folder in the Library folder at the root level of my startup disk?

Double-click on your startup disk in the Finder.
