Growl notifications are not being showed

Since this morning Growl notifications are not displayed. Growl is running fine afaik.
But even in the growl pref panel I cannot see any display when previewing the style.
The only thing that changed since yesterday was apple's security release (i'm on a MacBook with OS X 10.4.11 with Intel CPU).
Any hint?
