GrowlSafari breaks Safari 3.1.2

Took me a couple of days to figure out how to uninstall GrowlSafari, so I figured I should type up some instructions in case others need it.

Anyway, Growl works well, but GrowlSafari doesn't allow multiple-tab browsing on Safari 3.1.2 running OSX 10.5.4. It makes Safari unresponsive and I have to force quit.

To uninstall:
- Quit Safari
- Go to Growl Preference Panel.
- Stop Growl.
- Disable GrowlSafari, under applications tab.
- Open up /Library/InputManagers
- Delete GrowlSafari Folder.
- Open Safari and try again.

Thanks,
Sandro

You don't need to go into the prefpane, just delete the input manager.

Do you see this in 10.5.5? Did you check to see if your tabbed browsing checkbox is enabled in prefs still?

Hi,

I haven't updated to 10.5.5 (Is it out yet? Software update doesn't offer it yet) I will test GrowlSafari again when I update and write back.

Also, I didn't check if tabbed browsing was enabled in the Safari prefs, but I'm assuming it was. The new tab would actually open, but a few seconds later Safari would lock up. Nothing out of the ordinary looked to be happening in the Activity Monitor (No memory usage spikes or CPU spikes) Maybe something in GrowlSafari was trying to re-initialize and was hanging since the first tab had initialized it already? I dunno.

Thanks,
Sandro

Sounds like tabs were enabled to me.
