Webpage Updates

So, maybe I'll get flamed for only skimming through the first few pages of thread topics or for doing some other n00b thing, but I had an idea and was wanting to get feedback.

Growl's a great program... yada yada yada... It already tells me when I have new email or new gmail, but shouldn't we have something that checks for website updates? What I'm thinking here is Slashdot, webcomics, blog entries, etc. Having it be fully automated would be worthless, but if the webpage creator could be allowed to somehow send out growl messages to those who wanted them concerning the nature of the update and perhaps a link, how much a** would be kicked, seriously? I know we've got iComic, which is buggy as hell, but I'm thinking something more basic. We all go to our little websites untold numbers of times per day; what if we could skip that and just click on our sticky-sweet growl message when it pops up?

Can I get an amen? Can I get a flame? Whatever, I just thought it would be a nice little addition to my mess o' growl thingies I already got goin on.

You're looking for an rss reader. If things work out we may be shipping one with .8. If they don't there are plenty of rss readers that use Growl as a notification system
