Gmail+Growl doesn't work?

Has anyone been able to make the Gmail+Growl plugin for Google's Gmail Notifier work? I double clicked the install package, and everything appeared to go fine, but I don't see any new options opened up anywhere, and I sure as hell haven't been recieving Growl notifications when I get new mail. I had really high hopes for this plugin, because once it works, I can finally ditch GmailStatus which I have been stuck with ever since Gcount broke.

You could POP forward your GMail to Apple Mail.

That would work, but I would rather not use Mail, etc. I don't need a workaround for this issue, I just need someone to tell me when this plugin will work (or what I am doing wrong if it already works).

Applications section of the Growl website.

Well, since it worked for you, I installed the plugin a second time. Now it seems to work as expected, I wonder what went wrong the first time.
