GrowlTunes Album Art

Is the method GrowlTunes uses to record album art a standard of any sort? I know it's kept in a separate database so as not to fill people's iPods with album art, but is there any way to copy all iPod Photo-sized versions of GrowlTunes' art to all the MP3s it has found art for?

I don't know about this but I'm bumping this topic anyway, can someone explain why we have to have a sperate database? (if that is the case)
If you ask me this looks silly:
Could growltunes copy the artwork it hijacks off amazon and instert it to the id3 of the current track? It would make growltunes brilliant in my opinion, the option to populate the artwork of the songs in the library on the fly would be really useful.
thanks.
**EDIT**
Also, sorry to whine but sometimes I think the grab artwork from amazon script works 'too well'. I have some tracks by a little known and upcoming band called "Milburn" from the UK, but growltunes always shows up with a picture of some guy (i found out from amazon) called Amos Milburn. I think this only happens when there is no album information, and I appreciate it could inconvenience a lot of people, so ignore me if this is stupid.

This is a very good point on why we don't add the artwork.
Along with this:
1) Artwork increases the size of the track, leading to fill an ipod faster leading to less tracks on an ipod.
2) It could be destructive to tracks purchased on itms. Meaning we don't have a good way to differentiate, and if we're replacing all artwork, it kills the artwork you bought. Thus devaluing the track(s) you bought.
3) There isn't much of a point to it beyond vanity.
4) Only one image per album, so this takes up less space than if you added the artwork to every track of an album.
5) I don't want us to have to support it if we accidentally corrupted a track by doing this.
6) It's slow
7) It's gross to code.
8) ARTchive is easy to code for.
9) We cannot get artwork for rendezvous shares.
We do use a standard called ARTchive, created by the quicksilver guy. Here is a link to more information on it:
http://docs.blacktree.com/quicksilver/m ... s=artchive
We only download what amazon tells us to, so that's why you are getting that weird artwork. If you have the album artwork for that person maybe you could throw it into the tracks or into the artchive, and that would resolve the issue for you.
So here is what my ARTchive looks like, how large it is, and we'll be looking at My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult to look at the actual directory structure:

If you note there are some duplicates, but overall it's still just one folder per album per artist. There are third party applications which do insert artwork into your itunes tracks, so you could request that they add support for ARTchive.

Ok, that makes sense. Great thanks.
I like the one album/one picture way of things, useful I actually know where growltunes keeps its artwork as well- wondered about that for ages.
One last thing though, when the case is that it's an unknown album it gives each track a copy of the [identically same] artwork. I'm guessing this probably isn't growltunes fault but if it is seems like a bit of a waste, so should I bring it up with the ARTchive people?
understand nott adding but how about removing?

I can understand not adding the artwork growlTunes pulls to iTunes, but how about removing it from the notification alltogether? I only have about ten tracks out of 3,000 that it pulls the right album for, I either get the iTunes icon, or a completely wrong cover, and I don't keep them in iTunes anyway, I would like an option or way to remove that feature from the notification... I love what growl does for me especially since I have dedicated iTunes buttons on my keyboard and never leave the window open, but as I really could care less about the album art, I only find it distracting... If anyone has any ideas, assistance is greatly appreciated...
Thank you for listening and considering ^_^;

While we're at it, it would be nice if GrowlTunes had some options defining which information it should display in its notifications. GrowlTunes probably sends more notifications than any other app I use, but it lacks the customization a lot of the other apps offer. I never use ratings, for instance, and I'm also not terribly interested in track lengths.

Probably not for now, but I'll keep it in mind.
Do you have artwork for the ones it is getting incorrect? If so, it should read the id3 tag artwork first.

There’s a ticket… and it’s being worked on.

I dont keep any artwork on hand as it fills the iPod faster, plus 9/10 of my collection is asian music or underground electronica, the searh tries to pull something up but it's never right... i dont listen to english/american music hardly at all

Well, for now, do this.
Get info on GrowlTunes, disable ArtChive, Amazon, and the synergy plugins. With no way to access artwork, it'll only show it if the track has artwork, otherwise it'll show the itunes icon.
