Alert throttling?

I'm not quite sure what I'm asking for, so let me explain my problem :)

I've recently upgraded to Thunderbird 1.5b1 and have begun using the Yamb extension (http://www.globs.org/index.php?lng=en) to pipe new mail notifications into growlnotify via a little shell wrapper I wrote.

The problem is that I've woken up every morning to find growl in an unresponsive state with notifications all over my desktop. The notifications are set to go after 4 seconds, but I'm guessing the volume of them is overwhelming Growl. The only solution seems to be a reboot.

Has anyone else experienced an issue with Growl going unresponsive after receiving tons of notifications via growlnotify? I'm wondering if a useful feature might be to allow the user to specify a rate-limit on the number of alerts that can pop up within a certain time delta.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks!
Dave

We are aware of this problem and hopefully it'll be fixed for .8.
I'll thank you if you could please fill a trac ticket about this. :)
