Feature request: Meta-notifications

A request was recently made to add support to Oolite for reporting new e-mail messages, etc.

Naturally Growl sprang to mind. I was under the impression that Growl sent out distributed notifications when it showed, er, notifications, so I fired up NotificationWatcher. All I got was GrowlApplicationConfirmationRegistration (with no data) and growlNotifyGrowlTimedOut!, which is of little use.

So, a feature request: that Growl sends out a Cocoa Distributed Notification for each notification it displays, with the title, message, icon etc. in the notification dictionary. This would enable full-screen games to integrate with Growl as an alternative to Displays, and probably lots of other things not obvious at this time.

You can set yourself as an observer like the dashboard widget does. No need for distributed notifications.

Ahh, thanks. I thought there was something of the sort, but failed to find it after digging through the SDK and docs.

Ya, no problem. We should document it somewhere, can you make a trac ticket on that?
