[GrowlTunes] displaying the composer ?

I want to get the composer displayed within the GrowlTunes window. I tried to edit the scripts :

GrowlTunes > Contents > Resources > jackItunesInfo.scpt
GrowlTunes > Contents > Resources > Scripts > jackItunesInfo.scpt

adding "set aTrackComposer to composer of aTrack" and aTrackComposer on the line set returnValue.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work.

Any cue ?

Thanks !

You would need to reprogram GrowlTunes.

Hmm… maybe I should do it! If I don’t, this is what I have in mind:

The composer would go after the artist (just for Classical music):

Code: Select all

Adagio for Strings
Los Angeles Philharmonic, composed by Samuel Barber
Bernstein's America: Copeland, Gershwin, Barber & Bernstein
That would use an if statement with “includes "Classical"”

Now to work!

I'm quite precise with my iTunes files and I write down the composer on almost every track of every kind of music, not only classical ! So, it would be great for me to have this information displayed by GrowlTunes.
Actually, I'm not a programer, I just followed my intuition, trying to edit the scripts as I did in the past with iChatStatus scripts but it didn't work with GrowlTunes :(

If you do it, I think that you will make a lot of people happy, not only me !

Well, where should I put it? After the artist like I said before? Or where?

Meh... I can't do it for quite a while. My iBook won't start up :(

But now here is the plan:
1. Have a drop-down in the menu item with options for displaying.
2. This will control what you see in the notifications.
3. And will add other things like Genre, Grouping, etc.

Nice! I, for one, don't use the composer tag and don't want the track length & rating around, but maybe the comments... would be great if every display line could be customized...

What if one could drag the info around to suit their tastes? Like, say you have a checkbox of each possible info that can be put in the display. When you check what you want, it is then added inside a text box. From that text box you can drag the info "up" the list, or you can drag it "down" the list, depending on how you want it displayed. Is that feasible, or wishful thinking?

Right now the trunk has a checkbox thing. Eventually we may go that far, but I’m too lazy to do it :D

I'm another user looking to remove the Composer information line.

At first i thought it would be a simple matter of removing the following:

"set aTrackComposer to composer of aTrack"

and

"aTrackComposer" (from the returnvalues).

Obviously there's a little more to it than this, because it's not working as i'd hoped.
Can anyone throw some light on things for me?

Cheers.

Be patient. The next major version will have a preference as to which fields you want.
