notifications under screensaver

Post by Glamdring »

I often leave itunes running for hours at a time while I'm not actually sitting at my computer, even sometimes at night. Obviously the screensaver comes on, and eventually the screen itself goes to sleep. Growl helpfully deals with this by storing all notifications until you return and bring your computer back.

What this means is that when I return to my computer, I have growl track change notifications flipping through for 5 to 10 minutes, and that many notifications seriously slows things down. Also, I can't actually do anything at all on the right side of my screen.

Now... I realize that this isn't a problem with growl, it's a problem with my itunes listening habits. I'm just wondering if there's any way to either set the preferences of growl to not store notifications like that, or if I might just have to use quicksilver for track change notification instead.

I realize that the purpose is to notify you of everything that's happened while your computer was asleep, but... I don't really need to know all the songs that played, even if I was only away for 20 minutes.

Disable the idle preference in the general tab and you will no longer have this problem

I'm assume you're talking about the sticky after 30 seconds of inactivity option. The problem is not them being stickied, it's them appearing in the first place...

Don't worry about it though, I found my ipod :D
