Hi all,

I'm new to Growl and to the group and I'm working on my first Growl integration.

I'm using Applescript for my Growl Register and Notify commands and it's all working extremely well.

I installed Menuet today and I was impressed with how how it easily allowed me to install Growl - is there any way of doing the with Applescript?

What is the best way to help my clients to install Growl? Do I just suggest they download it? Am I allowed to include the Grown Installer with my app or can I somehow ask my user if they want to install grown and then auto-install.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.

Thanks

Jeff

There IS a Growl-with-installer framework for Cocoa apps, but I am not sure about Applescripts.

Assuming that there is no way to use the Installer Framework with Applescript ...

What should the Installer framework do? I wonder if I can replicate it's functionallity - does it reach out to the web and download a dmg or an installer - or should my app contain the installer and then launch it if growl can not be detected?

Cheers

The framework displays a window explaining that Growl is needed or recommended, and explains what it is. It then decompresses a zip file within the bundle, and installs it.

It only has support for Cocoa and Carbon though.
