MailMe Notification
MailMe Notification
I was really tryin to avoid asking for help because i thought i must be overlooking something simple, but I cant seem to get Growl to send me emails. I dont use Apple Mail by default, I use Thunderbird, but I went and set up Apple mail all prim and proper, even set it back as the default, and when I was prompted to allow Growl access to my keychain I told it to always allow. I clicked the preview button, and also told adium to email me via Growl when ever some one was seen online, then Signed my other SN off and on to trigger the event. Ive tripple checked all my spelling and sent test mails to the target address with no problem, but Growl doesnt seem to do anything when it should e-mail me, besides asking me to allow it access to my keychain the first time. I also tried deleting the keycjain items for my mail servers and trying again. Growl asked me for access to my keychain again but still sent me nothing. I really feel like Im missing something simple here. My end plan is to be text messaged to my cell phone when azureus downloads complete. This is the only other purpose Ive found for Growl besides showing me who signs on and off without having to switch windows.
indeed, all other notifications do what they should, and Im pretty sure growl is trying to send an email, but its not getting to me for some reason. I use Little Snitch, so I removed all rules for Growl and gave it unlimited access when it asked me, then I turned off little snitch all together and tried. I also intentionally misspelled the recipient address to see if i got returned mail to the sending address, and so far nothing.Ima keep tryin ideas as I have them, any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Im sure Ill get this to work eventually.

The frist address i was trying to send notifications to was a yahoo address, then I tried my nerdshack account (pop3). Neither have recieved any notifications from growl. The nerdshack account is whats set up in apple mail, which is where I assume growl gets the settings to email notifications since it asked for access to the keychain for it. Ive also tried sending to a gmail account with no effect.
Still no progress here. Ive tried installing the GrowlMail plugin and also replacing the pref pane. I know it tries to send an email because I find these lines in my console.log:
2006-02-11 20:49:17.121 GrowlHelperApp[275] (MailMe) WARNING: Could not send email message "Preview" to address <any address i try>

I get that error for normal events too. Ive looked around but cant find any more logs that might help me. any ideas would be awsome

It works now! I used the uninstall script on the installer dmg, I had to activate the menu item so the uninstaller script would stop asking me where it was because i didnt know. I then rebooted, searched for growl in the finder and trashed some left over prefs and installer receipts, as well as the growl mail stuff. Reinstalled for all users, it was just for me (im the only user), and now it works like a gem.
No MailMe either
Just chiming in.... MailMe not working here either.
I have a complicated setup so I am unwilling to uninstall.
I get the same terminal error.

You mean you have a lot of notifications already set you dont want to lose? If thats the case perhaps you could backup all your growl prefs and just reinstall growl for all users. Im pretty sure thats what fixed it for me.scoob wrote:Just chiming in.... MailMe not working here either.
