I just installed Growl 0.7.4 with Hardware Growler, and am having trouble getting it to run on startup. I've tried putting an alias to Growl in my "Startup Items" folder in the Library, but it's not starting up when I log in. Any tips on how I might get that to happen without having to manually start the Hardware Growler every time I log in?

That's not how you get apps to start-up automatically in OS X.

Try adding the HardwareGrowler app to the login items in the 'accounts' preference pane.
