Hi can anyone let us know problems and issues with new Mac Intels?
For one, I installed Growl 0.74 on my new MacBook Pro. And installed Mail bundle, but it is not working.

GrowlMail not working does not mean Growl is not working.

Did you install GrowlMail from the pkg? Do you see GrowlMail preferences in Apple Mail preferences?

I installed from the Growl package. But I don't see growlmail prefs in Mail.
Did you try this? Is it working on intels?

I've got a MacBook Pro and installed the developer tools so I could download and build an Intel version of Growl. But before I do that, is there an official Intel binary / Universal Binary distribution?

Growl works fine on my Intel MacBook Pro. However... I noticed that I was getting an occasional PowerPC process in my activity monitor. When I looked at the files it had open, one of them was "GrowlImporter". I navigated to:
/Library/PreferencePanes/Growl.prefPane/Contents/Resources/
GrowlHelperApp.App/Contents/Library/Spotlight/
GrowlImporter.mdimporter/Contents/MacOS/

And, sure enough, GrowlImporter is a PowerPC app. I don't like the idea of a PowerPC app running under translation in the background... Rosetta can cause a noticable slowdown for all apps.

I've got the 17" Intel iMac and the GrowlMail package refuses to install. How did you install on your MacBookPro?

What do you mean it "refuses to install"?

When I attempted to use the binary installation, it said something like "cannot be installed on this system." I assumed it meant the Intel architecture, which is weird seeing as it is a Universal binary. The instructions on this site explain to install by moving the Growlmail.mailbundle to ~/Library/Mail/Bundle/ but I couldn't find a GrowlMail.mailbundle in Extras in the dmg.

I ended up finding the source(via the link in another topic on this forum), unpacking it, dropping the GrowlMail.mailbundle into the Bundle folder, re-writing the Bundle defaults and restarting mail, but, new messages still weren't "growling" and the PrefPane didn't show Mail under Applications. Growl had been working fine already with other Apps.

As I was writing this post, I re-downloaded and ran the installer (Growl 0.7.4.dmg::Extras::GrowlMail.pkg, to get a screenshot of the message) and it ran fine, asked for my password and everything worked perfectly, Mail shows up in the PrefPane and all is well.

Did I just do everything out of order the first time?

Try quitting mail and rerunning the GrowlMail pkg installer
