growlnotify and other notifications not working consistently

I have just installed Growl and growlnotify on my computer. for the most part everything seems to be working. However every once in a while the notifications stop coming and I have to restart growl for everything to start working again. This is especially the case with growlnotify. I have inserted into my crontab several messages to happen throughout the day. cron is executing them, and Growl is logging them, however they are not displaying. So I try to run a test manually through terminal, nothing happens. Then I restart Growl, try the test again, and it works. Then when the hour rolls around for a message to come up, it comes and goes with no notification. Once again it gets logged in the console. I also get an email with every notification with an error whether or not I see the notification.

Here is an example of my crontab:

/usr/local/bin/growlnotify -s --image ~/Documents/Growl/food.jpg -m 'Lunch Time!' -t 12:00

and here is the email I get:

2006-04-05 17:00:02.723 growlnotify[11045] could not find local GrowlApplicationBridgePathway, falling back to NSDNC

I get this email whenever cron executes growlnotify, even if I see the notification.

Thanks in advance for the help, I really like Growl and it will be immensely useful to me if we can get this working.

I am using crystal for this particular example. I am also using bubbles, and jewelcase. All are set to screen 0.
