GrowliTunes problems

Hi guys i just got growl and have been playing around with it.

Its all savvy except for Growlitunes, the thing you have to install from a seperate application to register itunes.

It all works fine for the time the computer is on after I install it, but after having been shutdown or restarted the notifications don't come up any more. Growl sees growl itunes as registered and all the notifications are switched on. It means i have to remove and re-register growl itunes every time i boot.

Any ideas?

I second that - I'm new to growl, but have used QS for some time, just recently added growl and found that to be a slight inconvenience too. It would be nice to see QS include the features of growltunes, or see growltunes combined with growl.

I doubt you'll see QS support, as it's not quite clear how/why that would occur.

However, I have several better notes:

- If you add GrowlTunes (the app) as a Login Item in the Accounts pane in System Preferences it will always be running at launch.
- When in doubt (on 10.4), use Spotlight. GrowlTu is a pretty unique search string :D
- GrowlTunes (the app) will be going away in Growl 1.1, which should be released before the end of the year.
- GrowlTunesPlugin is the successor for 1.1, and is an iTunes plugin that needs to be installed once and that's it, and you can control it the rest of the way from within iTunes.

Doesn't QS already support growl and have similar functuality?

Having not used QS I can't fully speak to anything, but in general you can 'chain' Growl into an action using growlnotify, the command line tool.

Quicksilver has basic GrowlTunes-like functionality, but it doesn't display half the things GrowlTunes does in a notification, including album art and ratings.

I think the OP does not realize that the Growltunes app has to always be running.
