Using latest version 2.7.2 on MBP w/ OSX 10.4.8, linksys wrt45g router, hard wired connection on cable line.
My download rate was peaking at a measly 40k/sec, so I increased the buffer, first to 512, then to 1024. In both cases, the rate went way up, but large downloads consistently failed at 22.3MB down.
Is there another way to address the slow down rate at 128 buffer? This strikes me as a real deal breaker...? Anyone else encountering this?
increasing buffer causes large sftp downloads to fail
Now I see!
This seems to be related to my "slow transfer" thread here:

I also tried tweaking the buffer size, at 512 kb it worked fine and my speed went up from some 25 to 100 kB/s. Beyond that, at 1024 kb buffer I didn't see much speed improvement, and my transfer failed as well (timed out I think) after a while (could be resumed though).
So I'm at 512 kb now. Still, other SFTP clients work much faster even without buffer tweaking - I'm getting between 300 and 400 kB/s on the same server. I surely hope this duck can get beyond that limitation soon!

This is currently no more configurable. Watch out for the 2.8 beta builds which will bring performance improvements for SSH transfers. Announcements will be at the news feed at http://cyberduck.ch/changelog.rss
