How do I get...

...an answer to my question????

I have tried a couple of times previously to get an answer to a question about "locking" files. There have been 65 looks at the second posting and 80 looks at the original—but no one has taken a shot at helping and I don't understand that.

My question is this: is there a way I can "lock" a file in a download queue so that people cannot download that specific file? Say I have files a, b, c and d. I would like to make files a, c and d available to all but file b only available to a select few. Is there a way I can password the b file to lock it in place—or does that just not happen with Cybeduck. Is this a function of permissions? If so, they may be able to download the file but not open it?

I sure would appreciate someone taking a crack at responding to this. I need the help.

Thanks.

You use file permissions. To keep other people from being able to download a file, you can set permissions to -rwxr-x---, or 0750. Only the file's owner, and people in the owner's group, can download the file.
