7GB transfer keeps crashing at 1.9GB

Post by mdupre »

We are trying to upload a 7GB file to our ftp server but it keeps crashing at 1.9GB. Our IT department insists that it has nothing to do with our system or our server. Does anyone know if this could be a Cyberduck issue? Is there a size limit for transfers or a setting that we need to change?

Thanks for your help!

I've had similar issues, and if memory serves (don't have time at the minute to test it) at around the same point in a large tranfer. The only way I've got to work round it is to split the transfer into smaller ones by uploading subfolders one by one. Needless to say it's a pain.

Are you posting to a Windows box? I think 2GB is the file size limit for a certain type of disk format on Windows (FAT16). A quick Google search suggests some Linux distros had a 2GB limit set for FTP uploads.

In my case the files were all smaller than 2GB, I think the largest might have been a few hundred MB.
