FTP upload consistently dropping out HELP!

Post by derro »

Hi, this is not specifically a Cyberduck problem but I can't find anything on google so thought I'd ask for help here.
Whenever I FTP to my webspace I can browse, create folders, delete files etc all fine. As soon as I try to upload it will sometimes do some files and then the speed will drop until it eventually times out. It doesn't seem to upload more than 64KB which is really frustrating. It was working earlier this year and I can't think of anything FTP wise or network wise that I've changed
I've tried it on a PC using Filezilla and I can upload no problems so its not the server I don't think and not any router settings. I've also tried multiple FTP clients on my mac all with the same result so I don't think it's just Cyberduck. Perhaps a system setting in mac OS X ? I've tried creating a new account and FTPing from there, no success.
Any ideas would be appreciated, its starting to really annoy me. I've put a Cyberduck transcript below. I often get a timeout error, sometimes broken pipe error. The connection never seems to drop out in that I can still browse my FTP space and move/delete stuff but the upload drops out. Also after the below error the file is there in my FTP space but only 5.2KB when it should be 90something....

Did you ever sort your connection issues out? I seem to have the same problem. Tried to FTP upload a 50MB file and my connection was dropping out after about 2.8MB. Tried CyberDuck and got broken pipe errors. Tried curl through Terminal didn't work. Tried another FTP program ( a Director app ) and had the same problem. Checking my DSL modem log showed drop-outs every 2-3MB reconnecting after about 10 seconds. Rebooted into windows XP on a BootCamp partition and FTPd the whole file in one go through MSDOS ftp command.

problem seemed to be with D-Link modem

Eventually narrowed down the problem to my dlink adsl modem. Changed over to a netcomm and it seems to work fine.
